Nantes, the sixth most populous city in France, it has an interesting position, since it is located on the Atlantic coast, seated between Aquitaine and Brittany.
It is the capital of the Pays de la Loire region (44).
Its municipal population is 309,346 inhabitants in 2017 and is part of an urban area composed of a population of 934,165 inhabitants in 2014.
The neighboring municipalities of Nantes are: La Chapelle sur Erdre, Carquefou, Sainte Luce sur Loire, Basse Goulaine, Saint Sébastien sur Loire, Vertou, Rozé, Bouguenais, Saint Herblain, Treillères, Orvault, and Saint Nazaire also very close.
The city is served by 6 highways, namely: A11, A811, A83, A82, A844 and A249. It is the road crossing point from Flanders to Spain.
The urban transport network of the agglomeration is composed of 3 tram lines, 60 bus lines and also a boat bus service.
The rail network makes it possible to connect with the TGV Nantes to Paris but also to Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Le Mans, Angers or even Strasbourg. Two other train lines connect the Nantes metropolis to the south towards Bordeaux and the Vendée and to the north towards Brittany.
The city also has its international airport, serving major French cities as well as the main European capitals in particular.
